RE-DISCOVERY | Rose Gold Love

RE-DISCOVERY | Rose Gold Love eyeshadows, blushes, highlighters
It's been too long since my last post. For the past month or so, I've been busy studying for bimonthly exams and now that it's Thanksgiving weekend here in the U.S., I've had some time to catch my breath. So of course, I wanted to finish up some blog posts that have been sitting here for too long.

I'm not a fan of wearing pink clothing but rose gold is one of my favorite shades to wear on my face! For those who aren't sure what rose gold is, it's a an alloy of copper and gold with a tiny bit of silver. There's something so soft and romantic about it. It adds just enough color without being too loud, exactly my kind of shade. So I've gathered all the rose gold makeup that I own to share with my fellow rose gold lovers. So, let's get to swatching!
First up, single eyeshadows! I prefer palettes because I'm not that great at picking colors that go together. But, these single shadows are better if you want to dip your toes in.
RE-DISCOVERY | Rose Gold Love eyeshadows, blushes, highlighters, colourpop friendship file, weenie, sequins, muse, milani bella eyez in champagne, maybelline inked in pink, loreal amber rush swatches

  • Colourpop Super Shock Eyeshadow in Friendship File (haul) -- This shadow is part of the new Hello Kitty X Colourpop collaboration. It's a metallic warm peachy beige with silver and pink glitter. It's on the sheer side so I prefer to layer it over other shadows. It's not exactly rose gold but would look great on lighter skin tones as a wash of color.
  • Colourpop Super Shock Eyeshadow in Muse (haul) -- This is what I'd consider rose gold. I prefer rosier rather than coppery rose golds. I was surprised that many "rose golds" tended to lean copper so when I found this shade, I scooped it up.
  • Colourpop Super Shock Eyeshadow in Sequins -- The website describes this as a rose gold but it leans coppery orange on my skin. If you read my September Beauty Round Up, I found a way to make this the right tone for me by layering a pink cream shadow underneath.
  • Colourpop Super Shock Eyeshadow in Weenie -- Another coppery gold on my skintone, Weenie is slightly more subtle than Sequins due to the lack of silver glitter. So if the thought of glitter doesn't sound appealing, I'd go for this one.
  • Milani Bella Eyes in Champagne (product smackdown) -- This is one of my forgotten eygeshadows due to the way I was storing my shadows. Pulling this out and swatching made me fall right back in love with it. Similar to Friendship File, it's a paler pink that looks great in the inner corners in a rose gold shadow look.
  • *Maybelline Color Tattoo in Inked in Pink -- Inked in Pink is one of my all-time favorite cream shadows. Since I like wearing loads of pink, this works well as a base. Unfortunately, Maybelline isn't cruelty-free. It hasn't dried out even though I've had it for ages. I find that it creases on me now. Not sure if the formula has changed since it's ancient so it's something to keep in mind.
  • *L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Amber Rush -- I have a ton of these but this one has to be my favorite. Before Colourpop came on the scene, these reigned supreme in terms of pigmentation and shimmer content. It comes off more bronze than rose or even gold on me but I still like it with a pinkier tone in the crease and Amber Rush on the lids.

Moving onto the cheeks, I had a slightly harder time finding rose gold in my face products. I tend to lean peachy or berry in terms of blush but here are a couple of suggestions.

re-discovery rose gold love, bareminerals ready blush in natural high, nars blush in deep throat, ulta illuminating powder in pink diamond, the balm cosmetics cindy-lou manizer review and swatches
  • BareMinerals Ready Blush in The Natural High (unboxing) -- Gah, I've been calling this by the wrong name. The Natural High is a golden petal peach and I've swatched it lightly so y'all can see what it would look like on the skin. On me, it leans pinkier with a golden sheen. It's quite dusty so don't mash your brush in there unless you want a mess.
  • NARS Blush in Deep Throat -- NARS has awkward names for their products but this one gives a lovely fresh-faced look for light skin tones. It's not glowy like the Natural High but it looks more natural on me. But as you can see in the swatches below, they're pretty much similar once on the skin.
  • Ulta Illuminating Powder in Pink Diamond -- I was expecting this to be more pink but it ends up looking like a light gold on me. The powder is very soft so there's a lot of kick-up but it applies smoothly to the skin. If you're afraid of looking like a disco ball, this one is perfect because it adds a luminous effect to the skin. It's quite pigmented so go lightly!
  • the Balm Cosmetics Cindy Lou Manizer -- Part of an iconic trio, Cindy Lou Manizer is a light pink with gold flecks. I'm one of those people that like to collect things with my name on it so I'm glad to finally have it. It's a little too light to be used as blush but too dark to be used as highlighter. So, I use it as an eyeshadow or a blush topper.

If rose gold packaging appeals to you, here are four items with rose gold accents!

rose gold love, rediscovery, charlotte tilbury kissing lipstick in stoned rose, becca cosmetics dark circle corrector, josie maran pure argan milk intensive hydrating treatment, etude house belle lipstick
  • **Etude House Princess Happy Ending Belle -- Belle is one of my favorite Disney princesses so I had to snatch up this limited edition lipstick. It's a purpley berry color that works beautifully for cooler fall weather. I haven't actually swatched or even applied this lipstick but will make sure to use it more this week!
  • Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in Stoned Rose -- I bought this for my mom because she loves lipsticks but I ended up liking it more than she did. It's a pretty rose color without being a bright red. I have found a dupe for it so keep an eye out for that post!
  • Josie Maran Pure Argan Milk Intensive Hydrating Treatment (beauty roundup) -- This is in the old packaging and looks a little grody. I used up almost the entire thing and think it's great for colder weather. I prefer layering my moisturizing products instead of slathering a thick layer of moisturizer. It's more comfortable for me that way. I heard that the new packaging isn't as good as the old formula so I'll be looking for a similar product once this one runs out.

Last but not least, rose gold palettes! I'm sure these have been mentioned time and time again but I could not write a post about rose gold makeup and not mention these two. Here are my favorite rose gold shadows from each palette!

Starting off with the **Lorac Unzipped Palette (review):
  • Unbelievable -- Out of all the shadows in this palette, this one is my favorite. It's a rose gold that leans more rosey. Overall, the shadows are such great quality with no fallout. If you're familiar with the shade Gold from the Lorac Pro Palette, the shimmery shadows from the Unzipped are exactly like that!
  • Unreal -- While not a rose gold per se, it's a very pretty pinky champagne that pairs well with rose gold. I'll put this in the center of my lid to spotlight the shadows. So very pretty. In face, I used this palette twice this week!
Finishing off with the ultimate rose gold palette, the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette (fotd):
  • Burnout --  is described as a "light peachy pink satin". Definitely a pretty shade for all over the lids.
  • Buzz -- is described as a " metallic rose shimmer with silver micro-glitter". It's not the best on its own due to the sheerness, but it does look great as a topper over other eye shadows to enhance the shine.
  • Trick -- is a "light metallic pinky-copper shimmer with tonal micro-sparkle". Again, this one is too sheer and doesn't have much color payoff but it great as an accent shadow.
  • Liar -- is a "medium metallic mauve shimmer". This one has some brown undertones to ground the pink tones. Great for more subtle looks!

Rediscovering these products make me so excited to put them to use. Rose gold is such an accessible color. If you have a rose gold recommendation, I'd love to hear about it!

What have you been loving in your collection?

XOXO,

Cindy ♥

  1. Nice to hear what you thought! I'm a big fan of CP's lip products, but I haven't had enough push to try their other products.

It's interesting to read about your thoughts on their highlighters! Maybe it's just the ones you ordered? Because the favorites seem to be lunch money and churro. I'm not a highlighter type of person anyway though!

I've been meaning to try out some of their shadows though! Maybe if I win your giveaway, I'll get to! 😉

  3. Which lip products have you tried? I seem to be picking ones that don't suit me 😣 I have ordered three other highlighters but they seem too dark to be a highlighter on me. Maybe it's because I lost my tan . I wish you the best in the giveaway! Make sure you left a comment on my instagram for the Hello Kitty shadows and/or on the Colourpop Fall Haul to enter on the blog...some people aren't following all the rules and I unfortunately have to disqualify them.

  5. I've seriously tried like 40 of them lol! I love their satin and ultra matte lips! I have about 10 of their lippie stix too, which are great and last a while. I overall prefer long lasting formulas, so the ultra matte liquid lipsticks are my faves. They also have a clear lip primer that's so amazing! If you haven't tried it, you should!!! 😄

  7. I didn't know they made a primer! I have a couple of their UML but mine crack off after half an hour 😣 Not sure what I'm doing wrong because a lot of people like them!
